It's Official: EUROPE To Record New Album, Embark On World Tour
October 2, 2003'80s hard rockers EUROPE have officially announced plans to reunite for a new studio CD and accompanying world tour, according to today's edition of the Swedish daily newspaper Aftonbladet. In addition, a DVD collection will also be released containing the group's biggest hits as well as various behind-the-scenes footage.
The Stockholm-based act, who have been planning the comeback for a long time, claim that the chemistry between the bandmembers has never been better.
"After the first rehearsal in years, everything felt so right," drummer Ian Haugland was quoted as saying. "It was like we had only been away for a lunch break."
"Ever since we started, there has been something magical about this band," guitarist John Norum explained.
"The new stuff sounds fresh and hard but still with the typical EUROPE melodies in focus," singer Joey Tempest revealed. "…And extremely organic" added Norum.
EUROPE's manager, Petri H. Lundén, founder/owner of the Gothenburg-based artist management Talent Trust, says, "The market is absolutely crazy about the idea of EUROPE getting back together since they decided to split when they were still at the top of their game, which in itself is unique. We and the band made a set-up which made the reunion decision inevitable."
EUROPE last performed together on New Year's Eve 1999 when they reunited to play two tracks ("Rock The Night" and "The Final Countdown") in Stockholm as part of a live television event that was sponsored by Sweden's biggest media company Kinnevik.
